10 easy (and cheap) meals you can make in your dorm room

When it comes to being a full-time college student, cooking a gourmet meal is normally at the bottom of your to-do list. If you can’t take another night of ramen, here are 10 easy and cheap meals you can make in your dorm.

1. Microwave Mac and Cheese

No stove, no worries! Combine macaroni, water and salt into a microwaveable mug. Microwave for two to three minutes. Add cheese and milk, microwave for another 30 seconds and enjoy!

2. Vegetable Ramen Medley

Ditch the flavor packet when making ramen tonight. Instead, make regular ramen, drain the noodles and add soy sauce and a vegetable medley for an at-home stir fry.

3. Sheet Pan Meal

A one-step meal for a busy night. Take chicken and vegetables, season them any way you’d like and put it in the oven. This meal is totally customizable; you can use any kind of vegetables and meat you want. It’s also an easy way to meal prep for the rest of the week.

4. English Muffin Pizzas

All you need for this is pizza sauce, mozzarella and English muffins. Again, this is another customizable option, so use any pizza topping you like, go right ahead. Put them in the oven until the cheese is melted and enjoy!

5. Grilled Cheese

A classic feel-good meal. Grilled cheese is perfect because it fills you up and can be served alone or with tomato soup.

6. Quesadillas

All you need for this recipe is cheese, tortillas and a microwave. No pans or stovetop needed! Place one tortilla on a microwave-safe plate, sprinkle on some cheddar cheese and add another tortilla on top. Microwave for one minute.

7. Avocado Toast

A healthy meal that’ll keep you full. There are many ways to spice this up. Add some seasoning salt or hot sauce.

8. Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad

Get your daily dose of greens and protein with a grilled chicken caesar salad. Salad kits are available at Walmart for as little as $3.

9. Mediterranean Style Couscous

A Mediterranean spin on normal couscous. Add olives, bell peppers and Greek dressing to spice up a dull meal. Microwavable couscous is available at most grocery stores and won’t set you back too much.

10. Paninis

If you own a hot plate or sandwich press, paninis are an awesome idea for your next meal. They're another totally customizable, easy meal that you can eat on the go.
