The Student Government Association at Salisbury University hosted its Culture Shock Fashion Show, which featured a variety of multicultural organizations.

Groups such as the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS), Ca Va Chauffe African Dance Team and Vanity strutted down the catwalk, showing off their

cultures.

Director of Diversity and Inclusion for SGA Lauryn Dennis was in charge of putting on this year's show after being nominated and appointed the role after three years of being a senator for SGA.

Dennis, a senior, said she understands the importance of variety in event planning. The fashion show has continued to amplify voices and honor cultural traditions.

"We do a lot of different events to really promote inclusivity, and this is one that had been done for many years and one that I wanted to continue the tradition of," she said. "We always want students to feel like this is a second home to them."

This year's show was OLAS President Kelly Martinez's second time walking down the runway.

"The first time I did it, it was pretty nerve-racking," she said. "It was something new that we've never done before in the history of our multicultural orgs."

"But this year, I'm way more excited because it's something that I truly love to highlight."

The show featured outfits inspired by a range of backgrounds, allowing students to share their heritage and stories through fashion.

"I hope people were able to see different cultures, able to embrace their cultures and be able to also embrace other cultures," Martinez said.
