Salisbury University has cancelled the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic season, according to a news release from the Sports Information Department.
The announcement came this morning following the University System of Maryland announcement that all USM institutions would move to online learning for the rest of the spring semester.
The decision was made to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, according to the release.
Spring athletics were suspended on March 12 due to the outbreak of the virus.
Men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, softball and men's tennis all finished the abbreviated season in the national rankings.
There have been two confirmed cases of the virus on the Eastern Shore, according to health officials from the Eastern Shore Health District. Both cases were located in Virginia.
