As the first ever fall break approached for SU students, SOAP (Student Organization for Activity Planning), brought a unique concept to campus. Glow Casino created excitement to experienced and first year players alike.

Samantha Vigneault helped plan the unique event. She was happy to see the vision come to fruition. One of the goals of the event was to give students a chance to connect with their community and de-stress.

“I think it’s a really good opportunity to get yourself away from doing work and doing something different, something to get your mind off of things,” Vigneault said. “It’s something to have fun with your friends.”

Levi Sparks considers himself an avid poker player. Sparks spent the majority of his time at Glow Texas Hold Em' and appreciates the variety of events that SOAP puts together.

“It means a lot to me because it shows that there’s a wide variety of interests that Salisbury University is catering to,” Sparks said.

Bray Abell used to play Texas Hold 'em at lunch. He appreciates having events like these in the middle of a busy school week.

“It’s something different,” Abell said. “Usually you aren’t allowed to bet, so they actually have something to bet on campus, and it peaks people’s interest.”

Lexi Willingham came to the event with her friends. She wanted to see what a casino looked like in person. She appreciates the accessibility of the games to new players.

“There are real casino games but you don’t win real money,” Willingham said. “People explain it to you so that’s kind of cool.”

Bryan McMullen was stationed at Glow Texas Hold Em'. It's his first time working at the campus after 20+ years in the industry.

“When you do one of these events it’s more about fun, you can talk and enjoy yourself more,” McMullen said. “It’s much nicer than working the grind of a real casino.”
