The Sea Gulls are currently 6-1 this season.
The team has outscored their opponents four times over, with 20 goals to their opponents’ five. The team applies pressure constantly, averaging 21.1 shots per game—an indicator not only of a potent offensive attack but also of their strength as a defensive unit.
Opponents haven’t mustered much offense against the Sea Gulls recently. The team has now shut out their opponents three games in a row, with the most recent coming against #10-ranked Shenandoah.
The Sea Gulls are looking to secure their 6th NCAA Division III National Championship this season.
Morgan Bradford joined the team this year after an undergrad career at the University of Delaware. She’s started in all seven of the Sea Gulls' games this season, scoring two goals and putting up four points so far.
Nearly 80% of Bradford’s shots have been on goal this year, highlighting her accuracy. All aspects of the game are clicking, and the team’s cohesion has been a huge factor in their success.
“I think the off-field connection plays a huge part in what happens on the field," Bradford said. "We spent a lot of time this summer and during preseason together off the field, and that really built our team chemistry."
In terms of season goals, an NCAA title is always at the top of the list. The squad is currently ranked #4 and looks poised to continue rising in the rankings.
“We all have the same goal in mind. It’s talked about often—pretty much every day. Talent is great, but talent is not everything. I would love to win a national championship. I think that’s the team goal as well. I mean, it should be, and I think we are working really hard together toward that goal.” Bradford said
That motivation couldn’t have been more evident in their most recent shutout at home.
Their opponents, Shenandoah, were boxed out the entire game, managing only one shot to the Sea Gulls’ 18. Marli McDorman, McKenna Horner, and Caroline Pusey all scored in the win.
The squad will look to improve to 5-0 at home as they take on Catholic tomorrow.
