SU is looking ahead to its next century.

SU President Carolyn Lepre delivered the university’s 2026 State of the University Address on March 11. Students, faculty, alumni and community members gathered in the Assembly Hall at the Guerrieri Academic Commons to hear her message.

Lepre reflected on SU’s centennial year, acknowledging numerous achievements and key milestones reached across campus. She walked the audience through a timeline of the university’s history, highlighting SU’s growth while looking toward the years ahead.

She also shared how SU plans to ensure it thrives for another 100 years by unveiling the institution’s newest initiative: SU’s strategic plan.

“This strategic plan makes an intentional choice: Salisbury University will be recognized as Maryland’s model for connecting broad-based foundational learning and intellectual discovery with regional problem-solving and impact, preparing our students for a lifetime of success,” Lepre said.

The plan, titled “Anchoring Our Region Advancing Our Future,” will serve as a roadmap for the university’s priorities between 2026-2031.

It consists of four pillars designed to support SU’s mission and values.

According to the plan, each pillar outlines the university’s goals and the strategies it will use to bring these pillars to life.

The pillars include:

  • Pillar one: “Transformational learning and academic excellence that connects to real-world needs.”

  • Pillar two: “Supports students and their success at every stage.”

  • Pillar three: “A community-engaged campus that strengthens and uplifts the region.”

  • Pillar four: “Responsible stewardship for a strong future.”

SU has opened the strategic plan and is seeking feedback from members of the university community until April 1. After the Strategic Plan Steering Committee reviews the responses, the university expects the plan to be finalized and released by May 1.

The strategic plan is available to view here. Those who wish to provide feedback to the Strategic Plan Steering Committee can complete the 22-question survey online through SU's website.
