Island Creamery has been a favorite spot for Salisbury students and locals alike for a long time. Whether it’s grabbing a cone after class or catching up with friends on the weekend, it’s a place that feels familiar, welcoming and very beachy.

This year, to celebrate 100 years of Salisbury, the two teamed up to create an iconic flavor, “Sammy’s Salis-Berry Swirl.” This flavor combines strawberry jam with salted butter graham cracker crumble, creating the perfect balance of sweet and salty.

It reminds me of a strawberry cheesecake with its rich and smooth flavor that stands out from the first bite. The maroon (strawberry jam) and gold (graham cracker) fill ties directly to Salisbury University’s school colors, making it a great tribute to the school’s centennial celebration.

The staff at Island Creamery were super friendly and always willing to help. You can tell they care about making the experience enjoyable, whether it’s helping you pick a flavor or just chatting while they scoop.

The ice cream itself was fantastic. The flavor was rich and satisfying, and it quickly became a top choice for me. I would pick this flavor every single time, and it’s for sure a new personal favorite.

“The University is a massive part of the Salisbury community, and we are honored to work with them on this project,” Cole Conklin of Island Creamery said. “Many of our employees are students at the University, and many of the students enjoy our ice cream on a regular basis.

“I cannot express how important our relationship with the University is.”

Sammy’s Salis-Berry Swirl is more than just dessert.

It’s a reflection of school pride, creativity and community. It's something that will go down in the history of the university.
