Salisbury University’s Saferide will stop servicing The Brew River and The Guido’s Burritos until the end of the fall semester after “an increase in concerning incidents at certain establishments,” according to an open letter released by the organization’s executive board to the campus community Tuesday.
The board cited the incidents’ “potential to compromise the safety of the students who use [its] service” in issuing the moratorium, which will remain in effect until Saturday.
The two establishments’ parking lots and frequent pick-up locations “could present a danger to the Saferide staff and passengers” and threaten the organization’s ability to operate as a safe and confidential transportation service, according to the letter.
Saferide will reevaluate the temporary ban only if “a solution regarding the safety of Salisbury University students can be found” by the establishments.
The organization will operate through the remainder of the fall semester on Thursday and Friday night from 10 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. using its other pick-up and drop-off locations.
The Brew River, located at 502 W. Main St., and The Guido’s Burritos, located at 1303 S. Salisbury Blvd., are both located within three miles of SU’s main campus.
