The Salisbury University community is mourning the loss of one of its students over the weekend.
Valentine “Valik” Ronk of Severna Park, a senior communications major at SU, passed away in Berlin Saturday evening after succumbing to injuries from a car accident.
This Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. in Red Square, there will be a candlelight vigil to remember his life. Those who attend are encouraged to bring candles and stories of Ronk.
According to Maryland State Police, Ronk was the only person in his 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse on Saturday at 5:41 p.m. when it veered off the right side of northbound Route 589, south of Route 113 in Worcester County.
The vehicle overturned several times in a grassy area before coming to a stop.
Ronk was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center by Maryland State Police Aviation, Trooper 4. Maryland State Police are still investigating the accident.
