The Salisbury Sea Gulls flocked home for a statement-making win over Kean. An overcast day didn’t deter the Salisbury University faithful from packing the stands and making noise, with a record-breaking 6,918 fans filling the stadium.

Parents and Alumni Weekend was amplified this year by the university’s centennial celebrations taking place around campus. The weekend gives alumni the chance to return and see the progress Salisbury has made each year.

Michael Kiely, father of SU student Owen Kiely, noticed the stands were far more crowded than last year’s homecoming game.

“Every year we come here, the events get bigger and bigger—more fans, more activities on campus. It’s great to see the growth,” he said.

The Sea Gulls and Kean each put a touchdown on the board in the first quarter. SU then outscored its opponent 31–17 over the following three quarters.

The rushing attack was on full display: quarterback SyRus McGowan averaged 13.1 yards per carry en route to two touchdowns and 159 yards on the ground. Slotback Dario Belizaire and wide receiver Mason Fisher combined for 187 rushing yards, each adding a touchdown of their own.

Chris and Julie Bush were visiting their first-year student and enjoying family time. Despite the fair weather at the venue, there were plenty of pregame activities for the whole family to enjoy. The Bush family was stoked to see a full stadium and a win.

“The Gulls are up, our team is winning—it’s all good,” Chris said.
