SU sports' strong start to spring season

A highly anticipated start to the Spring 2023 season saw many Salisbury University teams ranking highly.


SU Women’s Lacrosse ranked fourth in the preseason by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association. This season, the team takes on ten teams in the top 25 and seven in the top ten.


USA Lacrosse4 Magazine named Sea Gull Erin Scannell a preseason first team member. The team began the season at home against Steveson, winning 14-2, before a 10-5 win against the Catholic University of America.


Men’s Lacrosse ranked second in the USILA Top 20 Preseason Coaches Poll before starting the season with wins over Berry, 20-6, and Roanoke, 18-10. The Sea Gulls will play five games against fellow USILA Preseason Top 20 teams this year.


Men's and Women's Tennis started the season with 4-2 records and .667 PCT.


Men's and Women's Track and Field started out their season at home with the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet. The men took home first, and the women took home third.


The National Fastpitch Coaches Association ranked SU Softball number three in the nation – motivation Assistant Coach Nate Parsley said is "earned every day in practice."


SU Baseball started as D3’s number one team for the second year in a row, securing an eight-win streak at the top of the season.


Baseball Head Coach Troy Brohawn said the rankings are a “tribute to the team last year.”
