Bury Tavern Brings Western Vibes to Downtown Salisbury

The glow of the neon sign, the pulse of conversations and a packed house marked the opening for Bury Tavern. With a fresh face and new energy, the bar now occupies a familiar address in town. 

Bury Tavern celebrated their grand opening on March 21. The venue aims to appeal to a wide range of customers and bring a distinctive atmosphere to the area.

Bury Tavern is a part of Salisbury’s Project Restore initiative, which aims to turn vacant properties into must-see destinations. 

Bury Tavern, a new western themed restaurant and bar, recently opened at 212 W. Main Street 204 A, directly across the street from Roadie Joes Bar & Grill. The establishment is co-owned by Jordan Townsend and Colby Bounds.

Bounds wanted to open a space where people can come to have a good time with a different style than any other restaurant in the area.

“I really like Nashville and the vibe,” Bounds said. “I wanted to mix it up and its always a good time with the crowds.”

The menu offers a wide range of options. Before Bury Tavern, this space used to operate as a brasserie. When creating the menu, the co-owners wanted to keep some of the former restaurant’s popular items.

“The place before us sold a lot of pizzas so we wanted to have that on our menu too,” Bounds said. “Our wings and pinwheel appetizer are also a big hit.”

Bounds also wants to incorporate students at SU since they are located in the Salisbury Downtown building.

“We’re thinking about adding a college night for the students here,” Bounds said. “We would have deals on some drinks apart from the weekly deals we have now.”

As a newly established business, Bounds and Townsend are ambitious to get involved with town events and potentially hosting new themed nights.

“After the RunSBY events, there is food available for the runners,” Bounds said. “I want to collaborate with them and also be able to contribute food to the runners.”
